To get involved, please contact abbierd@gmail.com Health Promotion Field Guide A resource guide for volunteers and organizations working with vulnerable populations is currently being finalized. The guide was developed by health promotion interns from UNI and UWSP and includes how to's on anemia testing, growth monitoring, developing a nutrition/feeding program, vision screenings, oral health care, blood pressure screenings and activities for HIV/AIDS prevention, oral health, nutrition, physical education, gardening and more! PAST EVENTS 3rd Annual World Fair: Saturday, April 10th, 2010! On April 10, 2010 over 400 people joined us at the NCC Pepsi Pavilion in Waterloo and celebrated over 35 countries with cultural entertainment; table displays; ethnic food tastings, children's carnival; world market; silent auction and raffle! Conferences, Table Displays and Presentations: Executive Director and Associates presented at conferences and events in both 2008 and 2009 including both the Salvador, Brazil and Cedar Falls, Iowa Rotary Clubs, the AAUW, the Iowa-Brazil Connections Conference, the UNI International Culture Conference, UNI Wellness Fair, College Square Mall Community Days, Cunningham Elementary School and more. Mission of Mercy - October 3-4, 2008 in Waterloo, IA: Fourteen volunteers provided oral health promotion activities and games for impoverished youth at this 2-day event where over 1200 people received free dental care. To join us for 2009's IMOM event, contact us at volunteer@over-therainbow.org Iowa Dental Association Annual Session - May 3-4, 2008 in Des Moines, IA: We were honored to share our oral health promotion program through an interactive table display for dentists and oral health professionals from around the state and region for this two day event. World Fair Fundraiser - April 18, 2008 in Cedar Falls, IA: Over 200 people celebrated over 25 countries by sharing and participating in a variety of cultural activities. Highlights included international food tastings, cultural displays, a world market, a children's carnival, and entertainment featuring Tai Chi, Belly Dancing, Capoeira, Brazilian Violinists, Saudi Arabian Dance, and much much more!!
